Valentina Pini
(*1982 in Ticino CH, lives in Zurich CH) studied art in Geneva (HEAD), at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, and completed an MA in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art in London. Recent exhibitions include Calibrando l’occhio at Museo Vincenzo Vela, Ligornetto (Ticino); Arte SOAZZA, Mesolcina (initiated by Zilla Leutenegger and Max Küng curated by Luciano Fasciati), MoorArt25, Garten der Wildnis at the Park Seleger Moor, Rifferswil; Water into Wine at Lullin + Ferrari Zürich; So Far, so Close at the Swiss Embassy Beijing; Ungraspable at the Museo Casa Rusca, Locarno and Raggiro at the Grieder Contemporary, Como (Ticino); Curiosity Killed the Cat, Kunsthalle Arbon (Thurgau). Her work has been featured at the Swiss Arts Awards 2024 and 2022 and at Media Arts Biennial, Museo de Bella Artes, Santiago, Chile (2021). In 2024 she did a research trip in China hosted by Pro Helvetia and the same year she received a support by UBS Kulturstiftung. In 2025 she was awarded by the City of Zürich Art Grants at the Helmhaus in Zurich and in 2026 she was selected for the artist residency at the Bogliasco Center in Liguria. Pini's artistic practice revolves around the perception of matter, questioning our understanding of material reality and the permanence of things.
